The official inauguration of the new subsidiary of CN ROMARM SA, "Centre of Excellence in Research, Development and Innovation" (CERDI)- Bucharest was marked on Friday, December 16, 2022 by the visit of the Minister of Economy, Florin Marian Spătaru, at the company's headquarters.
The Centre was established to perform research and technology transfer activities in the field of military equipment and technology.
The Ministry of Economy supports the defense industry
In the current geopolitical context, the development of the defence industry in Romania is a mandatory requirement, which is supported at governmental level. In this context, The Ministry of Economy supports and promotes projects that can add value to the defense industry, and the setting up of a dedicated armaments research and innovation centre is a welcome initiative for Romania and the Romanian Armed Forces..
The mission of the "Centre of Excellence in Research, Development and Innovation" Bucharest is to respond to the current requirements of the internal and external market, aiming at reforming or innovating the defence industry. In the coming period, the management of the centre aims to collaborate with public and private sector partners in order to access the structural funds necessary for the development of "dual use" industries, a situation in which most of ROMARM subsidiaries find themselves. In addition, the Centre's activity will encourage and promote the technological upgrading and modernisation of production processes in ROMARM subsidiaries.
The opening ceremony was marked by a brief presentation of the projects completed in 2022, as well as those currently being implemented, with the mention that the centre's specialists are involved in both national and international projects.
At the event, the Minister of Economy underlined that "...research remains an integrating factor of the strategies, plans of armament and action of our country's armed forces".
The meeting was attended by the Director General of ROMARM - Gabriel Țuțu, the Director of CERDI - Ing. Valentin Cristea, Drd. Dipl. Eng. Botiș Horia-Răzvan - Head of Business Development, Technology Transfer, Innovation and International Relations Service, Gr2 Scientific Researcher. DEng. Irina Carceanu, Eng. Mihai Bratu - Project Manager, together with the other members of the team.
CN ROMARM SA will advocate the interests of the new subsidiary, which brings a new boost to the defence industry and to the innovation of niche products such as weapons or military technology.
