Romania's Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Bogdan Ivan, signed today, May 28, 2025, the Letters of Request for Ammunition Co-Production between Romania and the United States of America. These documents represent a significant step in enhancing bilateral defense collaboration and reinforcing the Romanian defense industry.
The event was attended by the ROMARM management, represented by the General Director, Luis Vlădoiu, and the President of the Board of Directors of ROMARM, Constantin ALEXIE-COTAN-BODOLAN, as representatives of the defense industry in ROMANIA and directly involved in the future production process.

The signing of the Letters of Request assumes the declared intention of MEDAT, through CN ROMARM, to develop the existing industrial base in the Company's subsidiaries, through the production of NATO 120 mm caliber ammunition, designed for Abrams tanks, and 155 mm caliber ammunition.
This initiative is part of a more comprehensive strategy of the Romanian Government, as a major player in the Eastern flank of NATO , and the EU, to strengthen its role as a reliable partner of the Alliance and the Union by developing Romania's defense industrial capabilities and integrating them into the supply chains.

U.S. Chargé d’affaires Michael Dickerson said: “Successful implementation of these types of co-production projects builds capacity in the whole region and strengthens our bilateral strategic partnership. This co-production will secure the supply chain for NATO, the United States, and Romania, making America and our allies safer.”
